More Trail of Tears

Today!

I was so excited when I saw all of the State Projects come in this morning!  They all look great and I can tell how much thought and effort was put into them.  I can't wait to hear each student present them to the class.  We received our first few responses today from Alabama and North Carolina's Tourism offices; I can't wait for more to come.

This week we have another full and busy week of school.  In Social Studies, we will be starting our projects on Chapter 2.  The students will have a choice of 5 options of a project to do some research and complete an activity on something specific relating to Native Americans.  This will be our last week in music, so you have all survived the quarter of the recorder.  We have technology next quarter with Mrs. Rosenkoff.  We will continue to work on writing better sentences and at the same time we will also be learning more about nouns, abbreviations and titles.  We are also working really hard this week in wrapping up with Rules and completing our projects on this.  This project will count as our book report for the first quarter.

I hope to see you all at conferences next week!

Back in the swing of things.....

So we are back in the swing of things as we are in the middle of our first full week of school in a quite a long time.  We are extremely busy and have lots going on!

*  This week we will have a Vocab. test on Unit 3 and have also just opened our Cavern of Words in the classroom.
*  My math class will have a test on Thursday covering division.  Please continue to practice your math facts daily!!
*  We have our next current event assignment due on Friday, October 15th -- please let me know if you need any help.
*  We started learning about the early people who lived in our country 10,000 years ago today.  We will not have a formal test on Chapter 2 in Social Studies.  Instead, we will be working in class on a project over several days as an assessment.  Your child will have a choice as to which they will choose to complete.
*  Yesterday, we began our Rules project.  We made our flip book in class and will be completing 2/5 parts of it this week as part of our centers.
